Indonesia Is One Of The Top Big 5 For Steel Imported
There is data released by Indonesian Iron and Steel Association to show that Indonesia imported 6.43 million tonnes of steel in 2017, which was 48% of its annual steel consumption.
And in 2015 and 2016, Indonesia imported 6.85 million tonnes of steel and 6.49 million tonnes respectively. This make Indonesia become one of the world's five largest importers of steel.
At present, Indonesia consume 13.4 million tons of steel each year, and the amount will reach 23 million tonnes by 2025.
Indonesian Iron and Steel Association president Puvono said that steel imported amount should be 30% of total consumption, but have to enlarge imported volume for insufficient production.
