Indonesia Steel Plant Plan
To reduce reliance on imports, the Ministry of Industry of Indonesia has stepped up its localization process, and plans to build 3 large-scale steel production plants in South Kalimantan and central-Soviet Lavisy, with a total investment of $14.89 billion.
Indonesian Industry Minister Arrangas said that the construction of the three major production plants are joint ventures with foreign investors.
First, It is intended to work with POSCO, South Korea to produce carbon steel. Plan to increase annual production capacity from the current 450,000 tons to 10 million tons till 2025.
Second, Cooperate with Beijing God Fog Thermal Technology Co., Ltd. to build cold rolled stainless steel production lines with annual output of 3 million tons.
Third, Build production lines with annual output of 2.5 million tons hot-rolled plate, 500,000 tons cold-rolled plate and 3.5 million tons carbon steel together with Shanghai Ding Xin Investment Group Co., Ltd.
